SMART CAMPUS INITIATIVE
In December 3rd, 2019, our Internally Generated Rector (IGR)Engr Dr Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa (FNSE, FNICE), launched an initiative tagged the “SMART CAMPUS INITIATIVE”. The launch of this initiative ushered in the eradication of manual service system delivery and embraced the automation of same systems. To this effect, the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri became the most visibly seen Polytechnic in Nigeria in the global village and has enhanced her efficiency and productivity in service delivery.
FIBER OPTIC
In upgrading of the internet accessibility so as to harness the desired aim of establishment of the Smart Campus Initiative, the Rector deployed the usage of the fiber optic link which is described as the backbone of the internet on campus. The Fiber Optic connection which was derived from the MTN- BTS where the mask is situated in the school terminates at the institution’s Network Operating Center. The provision for future connectivity to areas set aside for future expansion of buildings was made through deployment of manholes.
LAUNCH OF WI-FI
Engr Dr Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa’s vision of making the institution visible to the global village and totally eradicate the manual systems of service delivering by digitizing managerial and administrative processes continued to gather momentum as he launched the switching on of the Wi-Fi on the 8th of August 2022. The Wi-Fi on the Optic Fiber which is described as the backbone for the internet, Wi-Fi and local areas network enhances fast assessment of data. This Wi-Fi has distribution sites which houses the sectional antenna, access points and are located in more than 40 locations in the campus.
