LOFTY FARMS LOME TOGO

Engr Dr M.C. Arimanwa’s quest to ensure that the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri continues to be the best in training students that will be self-reliant upon graduation, creating relevance in the society in the area of provision of aquaculture produce and also generate revenue for the institution was proven.

Rector collaborated with the Lofty Farms Limited Lome, Togo-which is the largest tilapia fish farm in West Africa on the following;
  • Technical Training on tilapia aquaculture
  • Fish Feed Production
  • Insect Mill Propagation (Black solder fly) which is one of the latest technologies on the world today
  • and securing of tuition free training for ten (10) students and five (5) staffers of the institution annually for five (5) years.

First five (5) staffers and five (5) students have been trained. They are;
  1. Dr Nwachukwu Victor Ndubuisi (HOD – Fisheries Department)
  2. Anyanwuocha Martins Chidi
  3. Iwalola Muhammed-Kabiri Ajibola
  4. Opara Osondu Anthony
  5. Mr. Ojukannaiye Adewale Sunday

The Student trainees are;

  2. Eluigwe Oluchukwu Martin
  3. Jideofor Samuel Chisom
  4. Nwaizu Faith Chizitere
  5. Anowei Ugochukwu Joseph

In other to achieve same in the institution, our undaunted Rector embarked on propagating of the first ever quality Tilapia Fingerling Farming in the South East, South-South and Middle Belt of Nigeria aiming parent stock from Vietnam. The state of the arts facilities that have the carrying capacity of approximately 30 tonshas been completed in the institution and is designed to actualize 60 tons yearly.
